✈️ 2015: The Beginning in Bali
Stay Legal was founded in 2015 in Bali by Ms. Emily. Stemming from her own frustrating experience dealing with visa extensions, Ms. Emily realized how complex and overwhelming the Indonesian immigration bureaucracy could be for tourists and expatriates. In the market at that time, she saw far too many travelers and expats falling victim to unofficial agents, misleading information, and fraudulent practices that caused significant financial and emotional stress. Recognizing the urgent need for an honest and transparent service, Ms. Emily began helping her friends navigate their visa documentation with a highly personal approach—this laid the foundation of Stay Legal.
🏢 2017: Formalization & Service Expansion
As word-of-mouth referrals and client trust surged, we realized the importance of having a strong legal foundation. During this year, we officially registered our legal entity to operate fully and professionally. Our service offerings also expanded; moving beyond just Visa on Arrival (VOA) and tourist visas, we began handling comprehensive Stay Permits (KITAS) for Investors, Working Professionals, and Family Reunification.
💻 2019: Pioneering the Digital Nomad Visa With the global rise of remote working, Indonesia became a top destination for digital nomads. Stay Legal stepped up as one of the pioneering agencies to facilitate the E33G Digital Nomad Visa. We helped remote professionals from various countries live and work legally in Indonesia without the need for a local work permit, embracing the future of global mobility.
🛡️ 2021: Resilience During the Pandemic The pandemic brought the ultimate challenge to the travel and immigration industry. However, while many agencies shut down, the Stay Legal team worked tirelessly on the front lines. We assisted stranded expatriates, processed special entry permits, and ensured our clients’ KITAS remained active amidst strict border restrictions. This period tested and ultimately proved our team’s resilience, adaptability, and unwavering dedication to our clients.
